The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, discussed today, via video conference, with the Deputy Head of the British Mission to Yemen and Director of Development Charles Harper, ways to enhance development cooperation.

The meeting addressed a number of topics, including developing the capacities of state institutions and the economic data and information system, the role of the Ministry of Planning in coordinating international cooperation, facilitating the working environment for partners and ensuring the efficient implementation of development programmes, as well as empowering national institutions, investing in human capital and simplifying administrative procedures related to the work of international organisations and donors.

Minister Al-Zuba touched on the new government's policies under Prime Minister Dr. Shai'a Al-Zindani, based on the directives of His Excellency Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council. She reviewed the support provided by the United Kingdom to Yemen in the areas of economic and financial stability, energy, health and governance, and the ongoing cooperation with a number of Yemeni government institutions in these sectors.

For his part, the Deputy Head of the British Mission expressed his optimism about the new phase, affirming the United Kingdom's readiness to provide technical and institutional support to the Yemeni government and to work with the Ministry of Planning to achieve development and stability priorities.

The two sides agreed to continue consultations and deepen joint coordination through existing partnership mechanisms, and to organise a joint visit by representatives of international donors to the temporary capital, Aden, in the coming period to strengthen direct communication with the government and learn about the latest developments in development work on the ground
