Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Ahmed Al-Faqmi
A seasoned Yemeni diplomat born in Aden on July 10, 1958, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Leipzig (Germany) and a postgraduate diploma in Philosophy, in addition to a fellowship in Private International Law and International Affairs Management.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989. Over a diplomatic career spanning more than three decades, he held various diplomatic and administrative positions—including Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office—before serving as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva from 2012 to 2024.
He represented Yemen on numerous international issues, working within the frameworks of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN human rights system, and the International Labour Organization (ILO), among other international organizations and forums.
He has accumulated extensive experience in diplomacy, foreign policy, international relations and organizations, trade, and multilateral negotiations, as well as in the areas of human rights, migration, and asylum.
He is fluent in German and English and possesses a working knowledge of French. His appointment as Minister of Planning and International Cooperation brings to the ministry extensive diplomatic and international experience gained through overseas service, multilateral representation, and engagement with international institutions and organizations.
