Ministers of Planning and Legal Affairs discuss coordination efforts between the two ministries to support institutional reform programmes

Today, in the temporary capital, Aden, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, met with the Minister of Legal Affairs, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, to discuss efforts to strengthen institutional coordination between the two ministries and to draw up a matrix of the Ministry of Legal Affairs’ needs for presentation to cooperation programmes offered by donors and international partners.

The meeting addressed ways to ensure that the Ministry of Legal Affairs’ priority programmes and projects are included in the meetings and consultations held by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation with international partners and donors, in order to help mobilise the funding and technical support required for their implementation.

Minister Al-Zouba emphasised the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation’s commitment to strengthening integration and coordination with various ministries and government institutions, thereby ensuring that external support is channelled towards priority programmes and contributing to enhancing institutional performance and advancing institutional reform and sustainable development.

For her part, the Minister for Legal Affairs commended the role of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in coordinating cooperative relations with international partners, emphasising the importance of supporting the Ministry’s programmes aimed at developing the legal and legislative framework and strengthening institutional capacities in line with the requirements of administrative reform and the modernisation of state institutions.

The two sides agreed to continue joint coordination and the exchange of information on priority programmes and projects, and to work 
towards organising cooperation with donors and international partners and mobilising the necessary support to implement the Ministry of Legal Affairs’ priorities in the areas of institutional development, legislative reform, capacity-building and digital transformation.
