Minister of Planning and Governor of Abyan Discuss Development Plans and Priorities for the Governorate

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, met today in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Governor of Abyan Governorate, Dr Mukhtar Al-Rabash, to discuss development needs, priorities and the challenges facing service provision in the governorate.

The meeting addressed the needs of Abyan Governorate in a number of priority sectors, particularly water, health, education and infrastructure, as well as mechanisms for mobilising funding from partners and donors, in line with the government’s plans and in response to the governorate’s development needs.

Minister Al-Zuba emphasised the Ministry’s commitment to and focus on development priorities across all liberated governorates, particularly Abyan Governorate, stressing the need to strengthen joint coordination with local authorities to implement service and development projects that contribute to improving the standard of basic services for citizens.

The Minister for Planning and International Cooperation noted the Ministry’s commitment to directing development interventions in accordance with actual needs and priorities, thereby achieving sustainable development and enhancing the efficiency of project implementation across the various governorates.

For his part, the Governor of Abyan outlined the main challenges facing the governorate and the urgent needs in the infrastructure and basic services sectors. He commended the support of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and its efforts to coordinate interventions with development partners, thereby helping to drive development forward and improve living conditions for citizens in the governorate.
