The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, discussed today, via
video conference, with the US Ambassador to Yemen,
Stephen Fagen, bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop development
and economic cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The two sides discussed the achievements made in the field of economic and financial reforms
with the support of the United States and development partners, including strengthening
the capabilities of the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden and developing financial
and banking supervision systems.
The meeting also addressed opportunities to enhance private sector participation in development
and investment, government efforts to create a business-friendly environment, review investment legislation
and develop public-private partnership policies, and the importance of building
institutional capacity and training national cadres, in addition to American exchange programmes and scholarships
Minister Al-Zuba expressed the Yemeni government's appreciation for the continued US support
for Yemen and its institutions, reviewing the government's priorities in the areas of economic recovery ,
improving basic services, and strengthening institutional governance.
The two sides affirmed their keenness to continue coordination and consultation to strengthen the bilateral partnership
in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and supports recovery and stability efforts in Yemen.
