Agreement signed to develop Ibn Sina General Hospital in Hadhramaut with Kuwaiti

An agreement was signed today in the temporary capital of Aden to prepare engineering designs and technical evaluations for the development of Ibn Sina General Hospital in Hadhramaut Governorate, with funding from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in the amount of US$474,700.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Afrah Al-Zuba, and the representative of the Kuwaiti consulting company (Global Synergy Partners), Dr. Yassin Al-Oubthani.

Following the signing, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation explained that the project represents a first step in the rehabilitation and expansion of the hospital to meet the growing needs for health services in Hadhramaut Governorate and neighbouring governorates. She noted that the Ibn Sina Hospital Authority is one of the most prominent health facilities in the region, providing specialised medical and therapeutic services and receiving large numbers of patients from various governorates, which necessitates the development of its infrastructure and the enhancement of its capacity and medical capabilities.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation pointed out that the health sector's infrastructure has deteriorated significantly in recent years due to the conditions in the country, stressing the need to intensify efforts and direct support towards the rehabilitation of vital health facilities, and to adhere to technical and engineering standards and the agreed time frame.

Dr. Al-Zouba reiterated the government's keenness to support the health sector in cooperation with local and international partners and to implement projects that contribute to improving the quality of medical care in various governorates.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation for the Projects Sector, Engineer Wazira Al-Sharmani, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population for the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, Dr. Shawki Al-Shargabi, and the President of the Ibn Sina General Hospital Authority, Dr. Hussein Al-Haddad.
