Minister of Planning Discusses Support for Educational and Academic Projects with the President of the University of

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, today discussed in the temporary capital, Aden, with the President of the University of Aden, Dr Al-Khidr Lasour, a range of issues related to the development of the university’s projects and strengthening its role in supporting the educational and academic process.

The two sides touched upon the importance of vital projects at the university, foremost among them the teaching hospital project funded by the Arab Fund, given the qualitative contribution it represents to the education and health sectors. They also discussed ways to resume externally funded projects, thereby contributing to upgrading the university’s infrastructure and improving the quality of higher education.

Minister Al-Zuba affirmed that the higher education sector and the improvement of university outcomes are a priority within the Ministry’s plans and programmes, highlighting the importance of supporting the University of Aden as one of the country’s leading academic institutions, and of strengthening training and qualification programmes for academic staff to meet the requirements of development and the labour market.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation noted the Ministry’s commitment to expanding partnerships with donors and international institutions, and to utilising international cooperation programmes to channel funding towards strategic projects that contribute to the development of university education and enhance the quality of its outcomes.

For his part, the President of the University of Aden outlined the most pressing needs and challenges facing the university, as well as the efforts being made to develop its academic programmes and improve its educational environment. He emphasised the importance of strengthening joint coordination with the Ministry and donors to ensure the implementation of vital projects, foremost among which is the teaching hospital, thereby contributing to the educational process and the provision of health services to the community.
