The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, today discussed with the Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen, Catherine Corm Camon, areas of joint cooperation and ways to strengthen them.
During the meeting, they reviewed the follow-up to what was agreed upon during the first meeting between the two sides, and discussed the latest developments regarding the coordination of French development and humanitarian projects in Yemen, as well as the government’s priorities in the fields of health, education, child protection, water and sanitation.
The two sides also discussed the potential for expanding cooperation to include new areas, such as education, institutional capacity building and climate finance, as well as the importance of strengthening the role of local organisations in project implementation to ensure sustainability and build national capacity.
Minister Al-Zuba emphasised the importance of aligning proposed projects with the government’s programme and ensuring their geographical distribution reaches the areas most in need, whilst commending France’s continued support for Yemen in humanitarian, development and cultural fields.
For her part, the French Ambassador affirmed her country’s commitment to continuing its support for Yemen and deepening its partnership with the new government.
