The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, today discussed with the Japanese Ambassador to Yemen, Yoichi Nakashima, ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, as well as joint development projects and the technical and economic support provided by Japan to Yemen.
The meeting, held via video conference, reviewed a number of proposed development initiatives and programmes for the coming period, including a workshop on reconstruction in Yemen drawing on Japan’s experience in post-World War II recovery and reconstruction, which is expected to take place next month in Aden with the participation of several government and international bodies.
Minister Afrah Al-Zuba emphasised the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries, praising Japan’s continued support for the Yemeni people in various humanitarian and development fields, particularly in the sectors of health, education, water and agriculture.
For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with Yemen and provide further support for strategic projects that meet Yemen’s development needs during the current and future phases.
