Minister of Planning Discusses Strengthening Cooperation and Joint Coordination with a Number of International Organisations

On the sidelines of her participation in the Hamburg Sustainability Conference 2026, the Minister for Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, discussed with representatives of a number of international partner organisations operating in Yemen ways to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination between the two sides.

The meeting, attended by Yemen’s Ambassador to Germany, Lu’ay al-Iryani, and representatives from the organisations ‘Ru’ya Amal’, “CARE”, “Child Care” and “Oxfam”, the main challenges facing the implementation of projects across various sectors, and the mechanisms needed to overcome them, thereby ensuring improved implementation quality and maximising the impact of development interventions.

The meeting also addressed the importance of sharing expertise and successful experiences between international organisations and the government, and of promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices, thereby contributing to the development of joint working mechanisms and the achievement of the desired development goals.

Minister Al-Zuba emphasised the importance of the strategic partnership between the Yemeni government and international organisations in supporting development and recovery efforts, commending the role played by these organisations in implementing development and humanitarian programmes and projects.

The Minister of Planning also emphasised the importance of conducting realistic and comprehensive evaluations to measure the impact of implemented projects, and of drawing on lessons learnt in the design and implementation of future programmes, thereby ensuring more sustainable outcomes and meeting the needs of target communities efficiently and effectively.

For their part, representatives of the international organisations reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to support development efforts in Yemen, expressing their appreciation for the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation’s keenness to promote dialogue and partnership, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of projects and achieving a sustainable development impact that serves the citizens.
