Minister of Planning Discusses Strengthening Development Partnership with Chair of German-Arab Parliamentary Relations

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, met today in the German capital, Berlin, with the Chair of the German-Arab Parliamentary Relations Committee in the German Bundestag, Alexander Radwan, to discuss ways of strengthening development cooperation between the two countries and the latest developments in Yemen.

During the meeting, attended by Yemen’s Ambassador to Germany, Lu’ay Al-Eryani, Minister Al-Zuba expressed the Yemeni government’s appreciation for the support Germany provides to Yemen, emphasising that the partnership with Germany represents a key pillar in supporting development efforts, economic recovery and the improvement of humanitarian conditions.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation provided a briefing on the economic and development challenges facing Yemen, the destruction of infrastructure caused by the war, and the decline in development indicators, whilst also outlining the government’s efforts to implement reforms, improve services, and strengthen economic and institutional stability.

She emphasised the importance of building on the distinguished historical relations between Yemen and Germany, commending the development projects Germany has implemented in Yemen over the decades, particularly in the sectors of infrastructure and sustainable development. She affirmed the government’s aspiration to expand areas of cooperation and restore previous levels of development support in line with the needs of the current phase.

For his part, the Chair of the German-Arab Parliamentary Relations Committee affirmed the German Parliament’s interest in monitoring developments in Yemen, emphasising the importance of continuing cooperation with the Yemeni government, supporting efforts aimed at achieving stability and development, and strengthening the partnership between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest.
