The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, today met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen, Janet Seiben, in the temporary capital, Aden, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and supporting the government’s development priorities and institutional reforms.

The two sides discussed areas of cooperation in the water sector and climate change, the importance of supporting Yemen in accessing climate finance to address environmental challenges and strengthen its capacity to adapt to the effects of climate change, as well as enhancing coordination between humanitarian and development efforts and consolidating the government’s role in leading these efforts to achieve integration and sustainability.

Minister Al-Zuba emphasised the strength of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the Yemeni government’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, noting that the government is working to enhance the effectiveness of partnerships with donors and development partners and to channel support in line with national priorities and reform plans.

Minister Al-Zuba touched upon the national plan and the government’s priorities for the coming phase, foremost among which are institutional reform, improving the efficiency of government performance, and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors.

For her part, the Dutch Ambassador reaffirmed the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ continued support for development and reform programmes in Yemen, commending the steps taken and achievements made by the government, and noting her commitment to continuing constructive dialogue and strengthening mutual cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both countries and supports development efforts in Yemen.
