The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation today organised a national workshop in the temporary capital, Aden, on strengthening the linkages between climate action and food systems in Yemen, in partnership with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Arab Organisation for Agricultural Development.

Omar Abdulaziz, the Ministry’s Deputy Minister for International Cooperation, explained that this workshop provides an ideal platform for launching analytical reports, building the capacity of national staff and identifying practical entry points for aligning climate action with the transformation of food systems, highlighting the importance of linking the climate and food systems agendas.

For his part, Abdul-Lah Ahmed, Director-General of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, noted that the workshop aims to support food security in Yemen. He emphasised that aligning climate action with food systems is one of the most important pathways to achieving sustainability, reducing hunger and poverty, and strengthening communities’ resilience.
