Minister of Planning Discusses with Minister of Technical Education Ways to Strengthen Coordination to Support the Priorities of the Vocational Training Sector

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, met today in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr Anwar Kalchat, to discuss ways of strengthening joint coordination to mobilise the necessary support for technical education and vocational training programmes and projects.

The meeting addressed the needs of the technical education and vocational training sector, the key challenges facing its affiliated institutions and colleges, and mechanisms for developing programmes and projects aimed at improving the quality of its graduates and enhancing their alignment with labour market requirements. It also discussed opportunities for partnership with donors and international organisations to support the implementation of priority projects.

Minister Al-Zouba emphasised the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation’s commitment to strengthening coordination with various ministries and government bodies, thereby helping to channel external funding towards vital sectors, foremost among which is the technical education sector, as it is a fundamental pillar for preparing qualified personnel and supporting sustainable economic development.

For his part, the Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training outlined the Ministry’s key priorities and future plans. He commended the role of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in coordinating the efforts of development partners, emphasising the importance of intensifying cooperation and coordination to secure the necessary funding for implementing development projects and upgrading the technical education and vocational training system across the various liberated governorates.
