Minister of Planning Discusses Strengthening Partnership and Supporting Recovery Programmes with Save the Children

Today, in the temporary capital of Aden, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr Afrah Al-Zuba, met with the Executive Director of ChildCare International, Anger Asheng, and her accompanying delegation to discuss prospects for partnership between the two sides and ways to strengthen development and humanitarian programmes supporting the most vulnerable children and families.

The meeting reviewed the most significant challenges facing children in Yemen, particularly in the sectors of education, health, nutrition and protection, and discussed future programmes and projects that support the humanitarian response, early recovery and sustainable development, in line with the government’s priorities and its national plans for recovery and development.

Discussions also focused on ways to expand areas of cooperation and partnership in the coming period to bolster the government’s efforts in implementing its development priorities and to ensure the sustainability of interventions aimed at serving children and the most vulnerable groups.

Minister Al-Zouba welcomed the delegation from Child Care International, emphasising the depth of the partnership between the organisation and the government. She commended the organisation’s humanitarian and developmental role in supporting the most vulnerable children and families across various governorates, as well as its contributions to the implementation of numerous vital programmes over recent years.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation emphasised the importance of a gradual transition from the humanitarian response phase to the early recovery and sustainable development phase, stressing the need to align the organisation’s interventions with the government’s priorities and development programmes in order to achieve a sustainable impact linked to improving the standard of basic services provided to citizens.

For her part, the Executive Director of Child Care International reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to continuing its support for Yemen and strengthening cooperation with the government, thereby contributing to improving the conditions of Yemeni children and families and expanding programmes that achieve a sustainable developmental impact.
